Ted’s Tech Travels From Oakland to Boston and Back: OLogic CEO Makes The Robotics Rounds

Within the wide network of the robotics community, comes the opportunity to travel and meet new people. Not to mention a front row seat to meet and greet some pretty cool robots. From the Robot Block Party events in Oakland, to CadenceLive Silicon Valley, to the Robotics Summit and Expo in Boston, Ted Larson, our CEO has been out there sharing his knowledge and learning from others in the industry.

This April at the Robot Block Party, Ted met up with the The Brazilian Robotics Team from the University of Brasilia. The team traveled from Brazil to California to participate in the RoboGames robotics competition, in the Balancer Race category, where they were the winners! Having pioneered in the balancing robot realm, Ted was happy to see this young group succeed. They later were invited on a tour of the Absolute EMS state-of-the art facilities and the OLogic offices and lab in Santa Clara.

With OLogic being an expert at using Cadence’s simulation tools, we were once again given the opportunity to speak at Cadence Live in April. OLogic Engineer, Jeff Comstock, presented a talk called “How to Find, Fix, and Validate EMI Compliance Issues with Sigrity Technology”. In this session, Jeff took the audience through a real customer scenario where the client was having EMI issues during compliance testing and how Jeff was able to use Sigrity Topology Workbench 2022 to proactively identify the design flaws and take corrective action.

Ted was there to cheer Jeff on, “Had a super fun time at the Cadence Design Systems Cadence Live Conference. Was excited to see presentations by many awesome contributors. While looking at the show floor today, I stumbled across a demo of the Cadence VP6 core running on the MediaTek Genio 500 doing NNAPI demos. Was really cool seeing the OLogic, Inc. Pumpkin board running the demo, and confirming that yes indeed, the AI thinks I am a person. Love seeing our stuff in the wild!”

At the Robotics Summit & Expo in Boston this May, Ted spoke on the topic of Guerilla Product Development For Robotics. It was a great opportunity to reconnect with industry leaders and also to meet startup entrepreneurs for the first time. There were new ideas shared and potentially new partnerships for future projects established.

Visiting Boston with his wife Dottie was an added bonus, exploring the great Italian food in the North End and giving his own vote on the best cannoli in town. It turns out Salem, Massachusetts is still trapped in the past and the attraction of a possible witch sighting still brings in the crowds.

Through his journeys this quarter, Ted has traveled the length of the country from the west coast to the east coast and back. Our man on the street, spreading the word of robotics for good!
