Romibo is a small, teal/blue and fuzzy robot with a screen for eyes and 2 black antennas.
Romibo

Romibo is a smart assistant for autism therapy and language learning. He is an approachable character who has the potential to break down communication barriers, especially when it comes to autism therapy and language learning. He also has the ability to tell stories and deliver prompts and praise.

He engages people in a way that has been proven to help increase verbalization while lowering anxiety. In addition, he helps to increase attentiveness in people of all ages and abilities. Because it can connect to the internet, you are able to share your interactions and lessons with others.

Romibo helps teachers work with children to encourage them in their communication and social skills. Plus, he helps caregivers by allowing them to customize, control and store scripts and interactions with an iPad. By doing so, information can be replayed in the future.

From Stuff.co.nz:

“Romibo moves on two wheels and, weighing between 6 and 7 pounds, is small enough to be picked up by a child. His face is human-like, but simplified. With two eyes on a computerised screen, he can follow faces and hold a person’s gaze, but blinks to prevent this stare from being too intense. Romibo does not have any other facial features, but he can talk. The iPad that controls his movement also allows Romibo to say words and phrases typed into the iPad. Teachers don’t need advanced technical skills to use Romibo , it’s as easy as using a smartphone app, developers say.”

OLogic redesigned the electronics and firmware of Romibo for proof of concept on next generation designs.
